From first timers to advanced riders -- I am offering riding lessons. I teach western and english disciplines and just about everything in between!
Beginners- I'll do book work for the first 15 minutes of the lesson. This will teach safety and give knowledge about the horse and equipment they will be using. The second 15 minutes will be grooming and tacking the horse. The last 30 minutes will be used for riding. The first few lessons will be walking only. Just to get a feel for the horse and get their sense of balance. Once the student tells me they are comfortable with their position and the horse, we will move on to trotting. For both western and english riders, I will be doing A LOT of leg work with them to build the strength in their legs. No cantering for at least the first 6 months. After 6 months, we will discuss what they feel like doing as they get better and further along in their riding. If the english riding student wants to learn to ride western, they most certainly can, and vice-versa. Intermediate riders- With intermediate riders, the book work will be optional. That will mean 15 minutes for grooming and tacking and 45 minutes for riding. With the english students, they have the option of learning how to jump. Western riders will be able to choose what they want to do as well. At this point, they are open to a lot of options.
Advanced riders- Again, optional book work, 15 minutes for grooming and tacking, 45 minutes to ride. During first advanced lesson, I will assess the student and see what needs to be worked on.
Lessons are 1 hour and are $30 There is a fee for additional lesson time.
