Horse Science Short Course Registration
Winter Evening Classes Set to Begin February 2 at ACC
Michigan State University Extension in conjunction with the Alpena Horsemen’s Club is now accepting registrations for their winter classes. Evening classes begin Thursday, February 2 and run weekly through Thursday, March 15. To be held in the Natural Resources Center at Alpena Community College, each weekly class will feature different horse related topics presented by professionals and educators from the equine field.
Subjects include ‘What’s New in Cutting Edge Treatments’, ‘Care for Senior Horses’ ‘Good Nutrition for Healthy Horses’, ‘Chiropractic & Acupuncture’, ‘Bugs Drugs & Toxic Plants’, ‘First Aid On & Off the Farm’, and more.
Featured presenters include Dr. Christine Skelly, Associate Professor at Michigan State University, as well as Dr. Karen Waite and Dr. Judy Marteniuk, both also from Michigan State University. Other guest speakers include Dr. Tom Dombroski, DVM; Dr. Charlotte Lucas, DVM; Dr. Pamela Graves, DVM; Dr. Selina Molnar, DVM; Roger Manning; Sarah Johnson; and Tom Guthrie.
Cost is $40. per person for the entire course. Each additional family or farm member is $30. per person. Deadline for registration is Friday, January 27 and registration forms are available by calling Mary Dunckel, MSU Extension at 354-9875 or Bonnie Cornelius, Alpena Horsemen’s Club at 727-3145. Classes will run from 6:30-9:00pm on presentation nights. Refreshments will also be served. Participants must be 13 years of age or older to attend.
