Why these shavings? Waste: Pine shavings are bagged and weather resistant, reducing wasted product due to moisture and weather. Bulk shavings also require increased labour and infrastructure Labour: Bagged pine shavings are easily stacked and quickly spread within stalls. Bulk must be shoveled into a wheelbarrow, wheeled from outside storage to inside the barn and then re-shoveled into a stall.
Odour: Pine is the natural way to neutralize ammonia odour. No need for odour reducing chemicals such as Dry Stall. Spruce does not neutralize ammonia, bedding requires chemicals and additives. I have been using these shavings for a year and I am so happy I switched!
