Based out of Birmingham area - 8 years experience (including a double apprenticeship with two master farriers) in farrier work; hoof resections, getting from shod to barefoot, abscess, navicular, founder work, colts, nervous horses, etc. Trims $35 for minis and avg horses; $45 for draft types. (Not set up with stocks to trim drafts with poor manners, however). Will shoe for $20/pair plus trim costs.
Logical, simple horsemanship techniques - no "roping the horse to the ground", unnecessary tying or abuse or things of that nature. Will also clean sheaths/teats - this is a nasty job that needs doing more often than most folks realize! Again, logical, simple techniques with little stress to the horse and ultimately, relief and cleanliness for both of you! $35.
Training also available - ground starting, finishing under saddle, beginning reining foundations, hunter/jumper foundations producing soft-mouthed, responsive, quiet horses who are happy to be saddled and ridden. $35/session (no matter how long it takes); will work at your farm provided you have a level riding surface on your property (and preferably a smaller area of some variety). Otherwise ride-boarding is available on a limited basis at my farm for $500/horse/month (includes 2 daily feedings, hay/water/worming, full turnout with stall access, round pen, me riding your horse, and trails). Will make special arrangements for weanling and yearling foals that need handling (lead, load, tie, trim, etc)!
In summary: trimming, sheath cleaning, training available starting at $35. Will travel pretty much anywhere in Alabama and can provide references.
