It is measured from the front of the cantle at the bottom where your thigh hangs to the back of pommel against the front part of your thigh. It is made for a slight built short women. 5'4 or smaller. This is a very nice saddle. It has more flair in the front then conventional saddles. The #1 tree will fit like a semi quarter horse tree.
