What makes Boer goats better???
A Boer goat is a large, double muscled animal developed in southern Africa for meat and harriness. They can consistently produce more muscling in less time than any other breed of goat, and will pass this to their kids. Boer are vibrantly colored and relatively uniform thoughtout. They are easy to raise, Have mild temperaments, are affectionate, require no milking ( but they can be milked, I milk my by hand twice a day and get about two pints a day per goat ), No special care, No shearing and no fancy fences. When every other breed of goat is hiding out in the barn to get out of the snow, The Boer goat are eating, runing and playing in it. They will graze and thrive on ground that will not support dairy goats with out supplementation. (Bowman, 1999)
