The horse health 101 series is back. All sessions are hands on. Enjoy the comfort of our heated classroom and vet station. A must for all horse owners and new horse enthusiasts. Presented by clinician Catherine Sampson who has hosted more than 200 professional workshops and clinics and has been a past participant in the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) conferences series for horseman. Other other accreditation are from Humber College Equine Program. She has over 40 years of expertise in the equine field as a trainer, breeder and care specialist.

HORSE HEALTH 1 Start off on the right foot. No what is normal for your horse. Learning about parameters and vitals taking, red alerts for colic and other life-threatening episodes are all on the agenda. Learn how dewormers work. Build a complete first aid kit. Learn how to treat wounds and participate in a case study to observe, cursory treatments and group discussion. HORSE HEALTH 2 This session is building on HH1. We will study more in depth treatments focusing on emergency care and preventative and support mechanisms. Would you know what to do in a natural disaster, fire or trailer accident. Being an active participant in your horse’s well-being is of primary importance. Learning to communicate with your veterinarian helps speed the healing process. HORSE HEALTH 3 Foundations of the horse is the focus of this session. Hoof care, maintenance and diseases of the foot are explained and illustrated. You’ll be amazed by the inner workings of the hoof as demonstrated in research video that takes you inside the circulation process. It is a fascinating world exploring the structure and function of the horse’s hoof.
HORSE HEALTH 4 This segment explores the form and function of the horse, including anomalies in conformation and how it affects performance. The skeletal structure of the horse and the forces of speed and weight bearing will all be discussed. A special presentation on muscle and tendons will bring forth the importance of conditioning.
