My name's Lisa, I'm 16 and I'm looking for a horse rescue/farm where I can volunteer at around Maryland(can be in Va or Wv). I want to get more experience with horses and see how a rescue works. I have my own two horses a 3yr old qh/tb and a 11yr old arabian both geldings, I've owned my 11yr old for about 3 or 4 years and have helped my family for about 4 or 5 years with their horses. My family also has 10 other horses which I help with everyday I help with feeding them, taking care of them..I know how to feed, groom, tack up and bathe horses. I've also rode a bit both ways but still need to learn a lot more about riding. I've also have worked with our young horses(introducing them to saddles, girths, holding them while people got on them..etc). I would love to learn how to train horses, or work at a thoroughbred(or rescue) farm, I want to start my own rescue after college, re-training TBs for other sports besides racing(jumping, eventing, western riding) so I would love to get the experience of working with TBs, or at a rescue!
I've been working with a pony ride/petting zoo company in Virginia for the past 2 years and can give you the name and number of my employer for a reference if you want!
