I am looking for a position in a hunter/jumper show barn as a rider or instructor. I have been riding for the past 16 years most of those in the hunters and equitation working on breaking into the jumpers. I have also taught on and off for the past 6 years or so, children and adults beginner to intermediate/advanced riders. I also have barn management experience. The following is part of my resume I have a full resume upon request.
Riding and Training: I trained my horse in hunters and jumpers while taking lessons with my old trainer. While riding with this trainer, I rode many thoroughbreds off of the track. Also, a yearling and a 2 year old going into training for the track. I also was in charge of getting a horse fit to go back to the track. I’ve also trained a 3 year old pony for the Equus Therapeutic riding program at Oakhollow. I worked with him through walk trot canter. He was broke to ride, but didn’t know what leg was, how to steer or canter. I worked with a women’s thoroughbred mare who was at the time boarding at the dame barn as I was. The horse was green and she was trying to sell her at that point, so I worked on everything from flat and flexion to jumping quiet around a course of fences. I also worked my beginner student's horse to keep him tuned up and entertained. The summer of 2004 I worked with one of the campers ponies. The pony came to me with a bad attitude, she would rear, buck, grab the bit and run anything she could do to stop working and because her owner was a little girl she would get away with it. Bye the end of the summer the little girl was able to ride her pony in all of her lessons and was jumping around a 2'-2'3' course willing and happy. Showing: I have been showing hunters, jumpers and equitation on the local and "A" circuit for many years. Most of my showing career has been on young or green horses just getting them in the ring for experience. In 2004 & 2005 show years I competed in the local Adult Eq & Adult Medal classes and was in the top ribbons. Teaching: For the summer of 2004 I was teaching many different camp groups at Undermountain Farm. We had three outside camps and our own camp kids that came everyday to ride. I had four of my own intermediate students who were showing with me as their coach. I have taught beginners through intermediate/advanced riders. In the past I have had my own students which had previously ridden with my former trainer. When she left I took them on. I taught many of her lessons when she would be out of town.
Other things I have done include being the secretary for Oakhollow Farms Horse Shows. I also helped run the Williamstown Youth Center riding camp in the spring and fall.
