Cappy, Bay Welsh Pony For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 300
Barn Name: Cappy/Captain

Breed: Welsh /TB x
DOB: July 1, 2006
Sire: 13.1hh Reg'd Welsh Pony Stallion (Section B)
Dam: 3/4 Thoroughbred - 1/4 Large Welsh Pony Mare

Height: 13.1hh
Age: 5 y/o
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay

Health: Excellent

Lameness: Tetnus, Rabies and Strangles Vaccinations and Deworming UTD in May 2011. Old Front Right Ankle Injury, looks like perhaps a fence injury? - He is sound and healthy otherwise and is absolutely gorgeous. He would make an excellent show pony for someone if we can get his ankle healed. JUNE 8/10 UPDATE: Vet came to assess and xray Cappy's ankle today. I will post the results here as soon as they are in. If anyone is interested in making a donation towards the xrays or surgery please email me! Thanks! UPDATE: Well ... after a long game of phone tag with the vet I finally had him leave some of the details on my answering machine so that I could post an update on here for you. So it seems the off/on lameness in his ankle is caused from a calcium build up around the bone (but not attached to the bone, which he said is a good thing). He and the surgeon that looked over the xrays say he should be able to be ridden/driven lightly for pleasure, mainly at a walk, by a small lightweight person (under 100lbs). No jumping or strenuous work-outs.

Vices: None

Personality: Super Friendly. Loves attention. Easy to catch, lead, groom, tie, trim, trailer, etc. Currently turned out in a mixed group of horses.

History/Training: Companion, Pet. Cappy is Not Yet Broke to Ride. We Found Out He Was Previously Known as Roger!

Future/Suitability: Great Companion Pony. He was very pasture sound this past spring/summer. So perhaps next spring/summer he could be lightly started under saddle or harness and see how his ankle holds up. He may be ok or he may not. If not, perhaps he could be a natural horsemanship project, but without the riding, just the ground training! Anyone interested in training/showing him for us this year in halter/showmanship to help increase his chances on finding a home?

Additional Info: Cappy lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter, pasture, hay and water trough. He does have good stall/barn manners so could be stalled at night or during bad weather. He is currently on a glucosamine/msm supplement and bute once a day.

QUESTION: OTHER THAN CAPPY'S ANKLE HE IS A SOUND HEALTHY YOUNG GELDING ... SO I HAVE TO ASK ... WHY DOES NO ONE WANT TO ADOPT HIM?? IN THE ALMOST 2 YEARS THAT HE HAS BEEN HERE WE HAVE NOT HAD NOT ONE PERSON COME TO SEE HIM. NOT ONE. WHY DOES NO ONE WANT TO ADOPT THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG GELDING? HE IS A TERRIFIC COMPANION PONY AND IF HIS ANKLE IS TENDED TO PROPERLY HE COULD MAKE A TERRIFIC LIGHT RIDING OR LIGHT DRIVING PONY FOR A CHILD OR PETITE LADY!!

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: $300 (or $200 + Donations. Donations can be Saddles, Tack, Riding Apparel or Blankets in Good Usable/Sellable Condition).

Current Status: Located at a Temporary Foster Home in Omemee, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted).

Email for Pix!! Annie, White With Speckles Appaloosa For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 300
Barn Name: Annie

Breed: Appaloosa
Height: Approx 15hh
Age: 9 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: White with Brown Speckles

Health: Good now, she was thin when she arrived as she had still been feeding (nursing) a 2 yr old colt.

Lameness: Not Sound in Front Right Ankle - Our Vet Called it a Contracted Tendon or a Flexural Deformity. She feels she probably developed it as a young growing horse and it will now be permanent. The vet also said that surgical correction is possible although she doesn't know if it would be successful at her age.

Vices: None
Personality: Friendly. Leads Well.

History/Training: Pet, Broodmare - Has had at least 2 known foals (Ace & Annabella). There were 3 appaloosa stallions at the same farm so there is a chance this mare is currently in foal to one of them for a 2011 foal. UPDATE: Annie is not showing any signs of being in foal.

Future/Suitability: Companion / Pet

Additional Info: This mare's owner passed away. She was brought to us by his family and they knew little to nothing about her so I will update this page with further info as I get to know the mare.

Vaccinations: Rabies PHF Combo (Sept 28, 2010), Influenza/Tetnas/Encephalitis (fluvanEWT/encevat TC4) Sept 28, 2010 and Jan 3, 2011, Strangles Jan 3, 2011. Hope, Sorrel Appendix For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 300
Barn Name: Hope

Breed: TB / QH
Height: 15.3hh
Age: 17 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: Chestnut

Health: Part paralysis on face from kick
Lameness: Arthritis in hind legs

Vices: None
Personality: Super sweet friendly. Loves attention, Great with other horses, ponies and donkeys. Easy to catch, lead, groom, trim, trailer, etc.

History/Training: Beginner School Horse/Trail Horse
Future/Suitability: Backyard/Trail Horse, Mainly at a Walk with perhaps a little Trot for Light Weight Rider Only, Under 125lbs.

Additional Info: Hope doesn't go lame but she gets stiff in her hind and stocks up on her back legs if standing in a box stall too long. A glucosamine supplement helps her stiffness. She suffered a trauma to her face (possible kick) last summer and now has some paralysis which makes her tongue hang out...it doesn't impede eating or riding but she does look funny...lol. She's just aging really, no real health issues but the riders at the barn we are teaching are older less agile women. She's extremely safe but she just can't work the long schooling hours anymore due to age.

Please Note: All of the info above was supplied to us by Hope's previous owner. We will update you with more info as we get to know her better personally.

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: $300 (or $200 + Donations. Denver, Grey Shetland Pony For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 800
Barn Name: Denver

Breed: Pony
Height: Approx 10h
Age: 14 y/o
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Grey

Health: Excellent
Lameness: Previous Founder. Currently Sound on Grass and Sand. Needs Hoof Boots or Front Shoes for Riding on Harder Ground.

Recent Deworming: July 3, 2011 - Equimax Dewormer Equimax Horse

Vices: None Known
Personality: Friendly. Super easy to catch, lead, groom, tie, trim, trailer, etc. Very sweet and gentle with kids. He is currently turned out with a group of geldings (horses & ponies) and he gets along well with everyone. This little guy is very patient .... it took us over 3 hours to get all of his burrs out when he first arrived, and he didn't budge an inch the entire time.

History/Training: Halter Broke. The rest is unknown. We purchased him through an auction. He is at least leadline broke as he has no problems having a little tot on him and being led around. If we can find a tiny experienced child rider that is not too heavy for him we will try him out at the w/t/c, jumps and trails to see what he knows. UPDATE: He has defintely shown in halter/showmanship before. He walks and trots in hand beautiful and knows how to square up for the judge!

Future/Suitability: Companion, Pet. Perfect leadline pony for a little tot up to about 60lbs or less. Anyone interested in showing Denver in halter/showmanship/leadline classes for us this year to help increase his chances on finding a home?

PLEASE NOTE: I have attached some new pix below of Denver with a rider. Please know that she is too big for him. But we didn't have any smaller riders here to try him out for us (as all of our little riders are growing up LOL). Denver is better suited to kids 7 yrs and under, approx 60lbs and under. He would be a great size for a little 2-4 yr old toddler for leadline!

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: $800 + Donations (Donations Can be Hay, Feed, Saddles, Tack, Riding Apparel or Blankets, etc in Good Sellable/Usable Condition or a Donation to Our Vet Account).

Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale.

Email for Pix! Skye, Brown And White Paint For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 2,000
Barn Name: Skye

Breed: Draft/Paint/TB X ??
Height: 15-16hh (will measure)
Age: 10 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: Brown/White Pinto

Health: Excellent
Lameness: None - Sound

Vices: None
Personality: Friendly. Easy to catch (if lightweight halter is left on), lead, groom, tie, trim, trailer, etc. Good with other horses, ponies and donkeys. She is higher up in the pecking order.

History/Training: Skye was destined for slaughter a few years ago, but a kind lady took her in and took care of her. Sadly this spring she found she did not have the time or the experience to deal with her and that is how she came to HCW. Halter Broke. Not Yet Broke to Ride.

Future/Suitability: With training I think she would do well in any discipline .... english, western, riding, driving, show, pleasure. Great Natural Horsemanship Prospect!

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: We will consider all offers over $2000 to a loving well-matched approved home.

Current Status: Located at a Foster/Training Home in Newmarket/Queensville Area. Jack, Bay Quarter Horse Cross For Sale in Ontario (Canada)
$ 1
Barn Name: Jack aka Whiskey Jack

Breed: Quarter Horse X
Height: 14.2hh
Age: 12 yrs old
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay

Health: Almost blind in left eye. Has occasional flare ups of uveitis. Wears a fly mask 24/7 when outside to protect from sunlight and wind. We do take it off when we ride or when he is stalled, or on an overcast calm day.

Lameness: Over at the knee on right fore. Knee is slightly bigger than the other, perhaps arthritis? Jack has REALLY sensitive soles - will need hoofboots or shoes if ridden on hard ground. He is fine on soft ground and we do not shoe presently. Jack has only come up lame 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years when in his previous adoptive home. The first time was because they did not realize how sensitive his soles were and they became bruised. Other than that the lameness was short lived (1-3 days) and likely from horseplay or a misstep in the field. We currently keep Jack on msm/glucasamine supplements and he moves around just fabulous. There is a noticeable difference when he is not on the supplements.

Vices: Can be cinchy at times. If he hasn't been ridden in a while he may try a little buck or two - along with a squeal !

Personality: Absolutely loveable. Most times comes when called. A favorite at the barn, and a favorite with guest riders. Can be sassy and a bit stubborn at times, but not in a dirty way. Must be turned out with geldings only. Not good in a mixed herd (gelded late).

History/Training: Hunter/Jumper previously. He is very well trained. Adoptive home used him for trail rides for the public the first 3 years they had him. He has been ridden under western tack for the last 5 years. Neck reins, turn on forehand, turn on haunches, sidepass. Has been shown at fairs and club level in western pleasure, western horsemanship and in gymkhana games (low competitive - for fun). He likes the pole bending and the flag race! Jack trailers like a dream, stands tied. He has camped out at the Ganaraska forest on occasion.

Future/Suitability: Superb trail horse. Even with the blindness in his eye he rarely spooks. Suitable for light showing on the flat, and can do games for fun. He can easily handle a 4 hour trail ride which includes w/t/c. However because of his knee he must not be worked aggressively in the ring or pushed too hard. Can carry a light weight rider (max 125lbs). Definitely no jumping. Requires intermediate rider. Requires Daily Glucosamine/MSM.

Additional Info: All of the info above was supplied by the adoptive home who has had Jack for the past 5 years.

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Please Email for Current Price

Current Status: Located at HCW Equine Rescue in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted).

Email for Pix!
