I adore this horse, and Ive put this
off absolutely as long as I could...
until now when my moving date is less
than two weeks away.
"Casper" as he's
known at the barn is a FANTASTIC novice
or youth horse. He is the epitome of a
"family horse" meaning mom and dad or
siblings can hop on him at home and
he'll take them on some great trails,
but then hes ready for the serious
competitor on the weekends. He has
tremendous potential to be shown due to
his great conformation and attitude. He
has the sweetest eyes, gorgeous coloring
(black points, grey dapple body, three
stockings and a blaze) the greatest
puppy dog personality (without being
pushy or obnoxious) and the most
wonderfully quiet demeanor. He wants to
be your best buddy and your trustworthy
riding partner.
He has spectacular
ground manners, ties all day long, is
great for the farrier, loads into
anything, bathes, and is all around
safe. Never spooky, he's been taken on
all of the hardest trails in north
Georgia and has faced water crossings,
bridges, traffic, steep rocks, cattle,
donkeys, dogs, and even wild turkeys and
deer! He rides neck deep into our lake
like theres nothing to it. He acts like
a horse three times his age, he is
always a perfect gentleman and is the
most consistent horse I own. He is low
on the totem pole in the pasture, and
therefore is a very willing, mild
mannered, malleable horse to work with.
He always aims to please and never picks
a fight with his rider or gets irritated
when corrected. His gaits are amazingly
smooth for a quarter horse and he wont
beat you to death on a trail or bounce
you off. Casper is also very well
balanced and sure-footed. He is careful
about his foot placement and doesnt get
sloppy going up or down steep grades or
through water-- he pays attention and
Ive never felt like he was rushing an
obstacle. We took four horses to the
nearby trail facility last week, I had a
timid 62 lb rider on Casper and SHE had
to lead us through all the water
crossings!!!! He was an absolute angel,
as always, and was very accommodating to
her riding ability. She even got
comfortable enough on him to take him
into the arena by herself and trot
circles away from the group ( a HUGE
accomplishment for Emma).
The youtube
videos demonstrate better just how
wonderfully quiet and gentle he is-- you
cannot teach a horse his age to be this
way-- he just has always been. He has
fantastic papers and is VERY peppy san
badger bred (most people would think
he'd be cold backed, he is most
definitely NOT). I trust this horse
explicitly with my most timid friends
and their children. We do not longe him
before riding-- we just tack up and go
and he is always ready and willing.
Casper has only had two owners in his
entire life. I was hoping he'd mature as
tall as my other peppy san badger
gelding at 15.2 but I dont think he
will. He MAY top out about 15 hands--
and Im way too big to look good on him
(6 ft 200 lbs). Im also moving
facilities and have to downsize by about
70%. I considered keeping him as a
lesson horse but hes bred too nicely and
he's too young to spend the rest of his
life doing lessons. I want very much for
him to go to a home where he will be
used and possibly shown by a family, he
has excellent potential to go to the
AQHA world as a novice all around
horse-- he will do ANYTHING you ask of
him without fuss. I have WAY more in him
than what Im asking, but his price IS
negotiable to a reputable show home or
if youre working with a reputable
trainer who will take him far beyond
what Ive been able to do with my limited
space and resources. Dont be afraid to
make an offer. He has a TON to offer the
right family who is looking for a horse
they can trust with anyone; from the
most experienced rider to the most
inexperienced timid beginner.
Price: $ 3,500 (Negotiable)
