"SANTERIA"
ROCKING
HORSE CANTER! DAISY-CUTTER TROT!!!I have
for sale,a GORGEOUS Canadian-Bred,
Thoroughbred, with tons of Bone,& Nice
Confirmation. She is a Beautiful,
Mahogany Bay Mare, 11 years old,& was a
Bruce Davidson "Cast Off". VERY NICE
PEDIGREE, but alas, no papers...
..."ALWAYS IN THE RIBBONS", for me! Just
"became" a Show Ring Hunter, this year,
and got Reserve Champion. However, Major
Millinium - "Milly" AKA "Santeria" (Our
Show name), requires at least, an
intermediate, FIRM (A "gutsy" type of
rider, confident)rider. (COULD, EVEN BE
A Child, or Husband Horse).. Has
successfully given birth to a beautiful
baby, w/ her previous owner.
This
gal does NOTHING "dirty", but she WILL
sense fear, therefore, she IS NOT a
beginners' horse. She loads, clips,
leads, bathes, ties, is VERY EASY to
catch, goes, mostly, barefoot. She is
Up-ToDate on farrier, shots, worming,
and Coggins...She does not get "beat up"
out in the pasture. She does NOT beat up
others' horses, either... She has a
beautiful head, and eye, VERY
well-muscled front, and rear-ends
(Warmblood-like). She is an EXTREMELY
EASY KEEPER.( She eats 1 quart of Smart
Carb Pellets, twice a day, with "Mare
Magic", and Calm & Cool supplements, and
a good dose of corn oil, for extra
fat.)
We found, that at shows, she
may act a little bit herd-bound, on the
initial separation, at the 1st few
shows. By the end of the season, last
year, she was totally over this
behavior...
We found that
immediate separation from her
stablemates, until after she is finished
competing, works VERY well, the "Calm
and Cool", & "Mare Magic" helped,
DRAMATICALLY! In fact, my oldest
daughter (12 years old, then), had
ridden her in a few shows, but those
were Milly's 1st Hunter Shows. Although,
Milly was behaving perfectly, my
daughter let the mare scare her, only
because she was whinnying for her
"husband" (My gelding, at the time), so
my daughter took over the gelding, and I
got to enjoy showing Milly.
THIS
MARE WOULD HAVE BEEN, PERFECLY SUITABLE
FOR MY 12 YEAR OLD, ADVANCED BEGINNER!
But, as things were, at show #2,
of the series, I took over. The mare
NEVER did ANYTHING, even remotely
'scarey' with me aboard.
She does
NOT stop, at jumps, in fact, she is the
opposite type, she grabs the bit and
goes... She has NEVER bucked, or, even
offered to, nor does she rear. She would
be ideal for someone "Stepping Up" from
a fast, large pony, or someone who wants
to go into Eventing, The Open Jumpers,
Foxhunting (FOXHUNTING, I BELIEVE, is,
her CALLING), or continue our route in
the Show-Ring Hunters... She is a
wonderful trail horse, as well, she
doesn't spook. For ant pursuit in
jumping, she needs a little brush-up,
with trotting O/F, to accomplish some
relaxation. We do not have an indoor,
and with the BAD East Coast winter, she
has had a LONG winter vacation...
She has a LOVELY 'Daisy-Cutter' trot, a
ROCKING HORSE CANTER!! She knows how to
canter, fine, in a Dressage frame, or a
Hunter one, depending on your seat, does
FLYING CHANGES, AUTOMATICALLY, and is a
solid, safe jumper... She, did, after
all, win me a nice trophy and folding,
embroidered, Directors' Chair at our
local Show Series, jumping 2'6" courses.
(The course designer is a bit of a
jokester, and puts together a Green
Hunter Course, that's more like a Handy
Hunter Course...Milly never batted an
eye).
Her only flaws are a slight
(VERY slight) flared, outside, of her
right, front, hoof. We were able to keep
her sound, BAREFOOT, until
Mid-September, last year, on all kinds
of trail rides, and showing in a
HARD,BLUE-STONE-DUST ARENA. At that
point, we added, simple, front shoes (NO
PADS, or any other special shoes,
required). WAY SOUNDER THAN A DOLLAR!
This year, my blacksmith was
unavailable, so I used the farm one. He
cut her a little short, so she was
slightly, "ouchy", I may shoe her, NOT
SURE, YET.
Also, she has a
barely-noticeable, chronic, one inch
around, 1/4 inch raised, slight, "bump"
on her left knee, it is, in fact,
INVISIBLE FROM THE JUDGES' STAND!! It
was X-rayed, and vetted, it passed. I
was told that this happened, when she
was with Bruce Davidson, and involed a
trailering incident. As stated, The knee
vetted-out, no bone chips, only a slight
swelling of the joint capsule. It has
never been sore.
The vet cleared
her for any size jump. I have lunged her
over 4+ feet. The knee does NOT HANG,
She is service-able over 4+ feet, with a
capable rider... I am "all broken up"
from 15 years of Galloping at the track,
and riding in Point-to-Points. so, I
have semi-retired from alot of strenuous
riding. I'm Mom to 2, and Wife to 1, and
work full-time in The Baltimore City
Fire Department, as a
Firefighter/Paramedic... I have a 3
level fusion in my lower back. (Now, I
will be riding my old gaited horse,
again, doing games, and trails--Can't
WAIT!!!)
Milly NEEDS &
DESERVES more attention, and a stronger
back-- than I have, or can give her...
She is a wonderful horse, with TONS of
PERSONALITY-(PLUS+++!), and POTENTIAL
GALORE!! She has a "Bad Little Pony"
persona, on the ground,(She isn't BAD,
though, a firm voice, and she looks
guilty, at whatever antics she has
'pulled', and acts 'right as rain'). WE
ALL will MISS her, terribly! (Visitation
rights?? LOL!)
**!!An update, last
month, I had to go and rescue my two
older horses, who were leased to someone
who I thought was a friend, and an
honest, kind, good horsewoman. She
starved my 2 older horses,(ALMOST TO
DEATH!!)-- the ones who taught my
daughters both how to ride... They won
many a gaming show, for us, for many
seasons, I can no longer do a trade for
Milly. Apologies. The Mare REALLY NEEDS
a good home now, as I cannot afford
board on 4, and OWE the older ones a
GRAND retirement...
I rode Milly out
solo today ( 6-19). She has not been
handled since last fall, except for
grooming... She gave me a DREAM RIDE!!!
Walk, Trot, Canter, with lead changes,
stood for her bath, and got her cookies,
Contact me, soon... She is READY-TO-GO!!
She got her shots yesterday (6-19), and
has a Coggins from 5-15-09... (410)
