If you are looking for a talented,
handsome CLOWN, this is the horse for
you.
Four white socks, white
stripe, and loads of silky red mane and
tail; Hollywood is just simply
BEAUTIFUL. He has a tremendous heart and
mind... and I swear to God, that horse
was a comedian in another life.
He has been handled from day
one, and has a the most wonderful
personality. His attitude is first and
foremost "I'll Try...." then it often
changes to "Well...I have better
idea..." and then the fun
begins.
For anyone in any natural
horsemanship program, Hollywood has been
started out right.... with lots of
emphasis placed on building his
relationship with people in a trusting
and loving environment, as well as
helping him to become a confident
learner. He does not have your typical
Saddlebred "showhorse" baggage....but
then again, we don't raise "showhorses"
here..... we cultivate
relationships.
With his movement
and attitude, Hollywood is very capable
of excelling in any discipline because
there is no doubt that he'll be putting
his heart into it. He's got lots of "Go
Forward" and really likes jumping logs
and barrels in our arena, though
currently all of his jumping exercises
are done with me on the ground.
No, he's not been "started" yet,
in the traditional sense. And it's not
his fault; With family illness and
injury, well... time got away from me.
But please don't let that keep you from
taking a closer look at him. He has SO
much promise. I have ridden him bareback
with only a halter and leadrope in our
arena, and he is making great progess
thus far.
For those of you that
keep your finger on the "pulse" of the
Saddlebred world, Hollywood is half
brother to up and coming sire, Bora
Bora; they both share the wonderful dam,
Mia's Time, whom we owned until she
passed away from a massive stroke at the
age of 24. She was a huge mare with
tremendous bone structure and a world of
personality. Hollywood's sire, Bi Mi
World Premier, was an amazing stallion
in his day; the absence of both sire and
dam will be deeply missed. Hollywood is
an exceptional tribute to the genetics
of that amazing stallion and a
wonderfully well-bred mare.
We do
not get into a hurry with our horses (
although I sure did not intend on "not
hurrying" this length of time with
him...oops ), instead, relying on their
individual natures to guide us with what
is best for each one of them. He is the
type of horse that wants guidance and
leadership, although he often thinks
otherwise. He has a TREMENDOUS play
drive that often causes "laughable
frustration." I've long since quit being
mad at Hollywood for this; that horse
just can't help his silliness!
Hollywood is very willing to
give lateral flexion... with only a
halter and lead so far... and responds
to the most subtle cues for hindquarter
disengagements to the left and right,
backing up, and moving his shoulders
over in either direction. This is a
wonderful and willing horse...provided
you can keep his attention, of course;
it is going to be so easy bringing him
along from this point forward in the
right hands. I have no doubt that by the
time he is wearing a saddle and bridle,
it'll be "no big deal." That's just the
way he looks at life...
Hollywood is all about "forward
energy"...it starts out in his brain and
then goes straight to his legs, then
does an "endless loop" all day long.
That being said, he's going to be the
one horse in the group that would rather
be at the front than at the back! He is
that way in the pasture ~ always "busy"
and on the lookout; always the first one
to go and "check things out". His
inquisitive and engaging nature will
sure make for a great partner, whether
you are on a trail or racing around on
the endurance course. If there is
somewhere to "go", Hollywood is going to
be the one to want to get
there!
Hollywood has a deep, wide
chest with tremendous shoulders and
hindquarters. His legs are placed
squarely underneath him; he is not
narrow in the hocks. His back might be a
little "long" for you dressage folks,
according to some opinions, but he is
definitely suitable for the
hunter/jumper discipline and has the
size and strength to do the
distance.
And please...if you are
a dressage rider, please do NOT email me
asking for a thousand measurements on
him; he is not perfect. You are more
than welcome to come and measure him
yourself; I'll even provide you with a
measuring tape.
We are very
specific to whom our horses are sold to,
and would rather keep them with us as to
have them go to a questionable home. We
will ask you personal questions
regarding your finances, dedication and
commitment levels, references, riding
and horse experience, training
philosophy, and anything else that we
feel is important on behalf of our
horses. We may even come to check out
your farm to make sure it is suitable.
If you are not willing to provide that
type of information, please do not
contact us.
