"Silver" is a 15.2hh 1995 grey Quarab
"been-there-done-that" gelding offered
for lease.
I have had Silver
since he was a foal (homebred,
ranch-raised) and have done everything
from work cattle, to Pony Club (jumping,
basic dressage), to parades (09 Stampede
Parade), to work on the Thoroughbred
track (pony horse) and riding in the
mountains. He can be ridden bridleless,
with a plain rope hackamore, in a
snaffle, or in a curb (for refinement).
Does excellent lateral work, flying
changes, collection, transitions, and is
willing to learn more. I started a
little reining-type work on him and he
has the potential to go further.
Silver is sound, extremely athletic,
sensitive, responsive, intelligent (fast
learner!), and high-energy. I would
love to see him working cattle (very
cowy) or doing reining. Given his
jumping experience, Silver could also be
suited as a jumper but would require
confidence-building over fences. He has
been to numerous clinics, shows, and
parades throughout the years and is not
fazed by that atmosphere. Has done
plenty of cattle work and riding in the
mountains over all sorts of
terrain.
Silver would be suited
to an experienced rider for a 3 month
lease (to start, renewable for longer),
but could suit a beginner/intermediate
rider in the right situation and with a
few minor conditions (ie. no curbs with
a beginner/intermediate, ridden with
lessons). I am just too busy with my
jumpers and work at the moment but would
love to see Silver used and loved more
regularly than he is now, sitting out in
a field. He is available for showing
and for an off-site lease in the
Calgary/Aidrie area.
No vices
except being herdbound on trail ridings
at first if he has not been ridden in
awhile. Bathes, loads, ties, clips,
stands for the farrier, etc.
Lessee would be responsible for any
and all costs normally associated with
maintaining a horse (board, vet, trims,
deworming), plus a $100/month lease fee
(negotiable). Was ridden some last
summer and spent a month and a half with
me out on a ranch working cattle last
fall (Sept/Oct). Would be fine being
ridden after time off, even with a
novice. Utd on all
vaccines/farrier/deworming. Cannot be
vaccinated in the future though, as he
is severely allergic. Blood titre an
option though, as he should maintain
immunity.
Easy keeper on pasture
and hay, currently barefoot but has been
shod periodically. Unflappable with the
right rider, though high
energy.
Tack not included in
lease, Silver fits more like an Arab/TB
than your typical QH and can go in a
very mild bit or mild hackamore. Horse
NOT for sale.
Give me a shout to
try this boy out and for additional info
(no video at this time, sorry).
