Max is a well-loved, well-trained flashy
and charismatic registered paint horse
gelding. He is built like a warmblood.
Max was originally broken western but
has had four years of professional
dressage schooling. He has shown First
Level earning 68% and is schooling
second level. He has also cleanly jumped
a 2'6" course in the past. He loves to
work outside of the arena and has quite
a few trail miles on him. With all these
great ingredients, we feel that Max
would do great in a lower level one day
eventing home! Although he was
originally trained western, his gaits
are very big and athletic due to the
dressage training, he really does not
have a western jog or lope in him any
more. His trot is out of this world, a
huge ground covering stride and he loves
to extend and show off! His canter is
very athletic and bold.
Due to
his correct training, Max is very light
to the aids, extremely sensitive to the
leg and weight aids. He is also very
soft in the mouth. He does require a
very quiet and sensitive rider and would
not be suitable for a beginner. He is
intelligent and bores easily. He would
do better in a home where variety is the
key. Schooling 5 days a week will just
burn him out. At this time, we combine
dressage training and trail riding into
his program. He is most definitely more
relaxed, happy and forward when working
outside. We also school him in outside
the arena to help prevent him getting
the blahs in the ring. He loves music
and will definitely shine in a First
Level Musical Freestyle .. he literally
dances and will tell you which music he
likes, and which he dislikes. (Hint: he
loves the boy bands!!)
Max has a
phenomenal work ethic, he is very quick
to learn. He is very supple and so light
that he is great for an intermediate to
advanced rider who would like to hone
their dressage skills whilst still
enjoying other non-arena type activities
with him. Max does like to go out and
work, he is always very eager. He could
have the potential to do competitive
trail.
Max will be 9 years old
in February 2010. He is a cherished
member of his current family and has
been for the past 4 years. This is a
difficult sale as the owner has simply
outgrown her horse. The owner is riding
at a much higher level than the horse is
capable of. Out of fairness and love of
her horse, the owner has decided that
perhaps Max will be happier in an
equally loving home where dressage is
not the key focus. The home is of
paramount importance and the owner would
rather keep Max than see him end up in a
home where he will not be loved, enjoyed
and working happily within his
parameters!
Max has a huge
personality and is cheeky, fun,
gregarious and highly intelligent. He is
sensitive to the people around him. A
facility with lots of excitement with
energetic and enthusiastic junior riders
is not a good environment for him. He
will bond very deeply with his person
and likes quiet consistency. He can pull
grouchy faces but he really is a dollop
and quite the character.
Max
stands very well for grooming, tacking
up, bathing, farrier and vet. He might
pull faces but he stands well! He is up
to date on vaccinations, farrier,
coggins and wormer. In the pasture, Max
has difficulty establishing his rank in
the herd. It really depends upon the
personality of the horse he is pastured
with. He is very playful and tends to be
higher in the pecking order, but we have
never put him out with dominant horses.
He does well with only one other pasture
mate.

The reason that Max
is priced so low is due to the fact that
the Max had colic surgery (sand
impaction) one year ago. The owner also
keeps him on OCD Pellets daily.
Max is only for sale to an approved,
loving and permanent home.
