Clydon is 3.5 years old, he was born on
February 28, 2006. A red roan overo, and
is currently standing between 14.3-15.0
hands. We have his papers and he can be
registered, but at the current moment I
am not sure where his registration
papers are...
I bought Clydon as
weanling in September of 2006 from a
competing/breeding horse farm, with him
just knowing walk/trot in hand (having
competed in a few shows), and lunged
regularly. I raised him with a
combination of love and discipline,
which really shows through in his
character and substance. When he was a
yearling I began the light work of
bridling, saddling, and desensitizing to
anything and everything. He has been
raised in a working farm atmosphere,
dogs, chickens, cows, cats, horses,
tractors, trucks, heavy machinery, 4
wheelers, etc, he's seen it. He ties and
stands for hours, grooms easily, no
problem with bathing, goes great for the
farrier(his fore-feet are shod). Good
and sure-footed. Walk/trots in hand.
Easy, easy control. He is always the
first to meet you at the gate, and comes
galloping up when he's called. Can be
stalled, or pastured. Can be touched
anywhere, (by anything, bag/rope/hand
etc) no kick/bite/rear. He is great with
other horses, in the middle of the
pecking order. He has the admirable
quality of never being barn sour, and
can walk away from the group with no
fuss. He is always more than willing to
be in the company of his "partner." Just
as laid back as a horse can be, even for
his age. He takes everything in stride,
and when introduced to new concepts he
is very willing and calm. He's just and
easy to mess with, no fuss horse.
I showcased him when he was a
yearling(, in halter and showmanship (A
first for me as well) in the local 4-H
horse show. And received many
compliments on his attitude and
behavior, even with 50+ horses and 100
degree weather. His 2.5-3 year old
year(Summer 2009), having not worked
with him for a year, I took him out,
saddled him, bridled him, took it all
calm as can be, walked him to the yard,
stood still to be mounted and proceeded
to teach him to rein, stop, and walk
forward, all in a day. Repeated a few
days, and a week later we took him on
his first camping trip to Brown County
Indiana. He did excellent. Crossed
rivers, logs, and mud. Was a little worn
out and tired afterward, but he picketed
and didn't raise a fuss at all. (Rode
him to the town of Story on the main
trail, and side trails back) A month
later, (with no work in between) we took
him on a ride through our farm, to a
subdivision, and heavily wooded area.
That was in September of 2009.
I
am currently a high school student,
and
I bought him with hopes of him
being my personal mount for whatever.
Under changed circumstances, I no longer
have the time, money, or commitment to
finish his training, and he is being
left as a pasture pet, when he deserves
so much more, and has all the potential
in the world. I am open to offers. A
good home is a must have. Any questions
or concerns please feel free to call my
father (Tim) at 513-678-2250 or me
(Laura) at 812-209-9694. Pictures and
videos are available.
