Clover has been a great mare for me for
over the past year; she's got solid
footing on the trail (we've been on some
pretty tight and knarly trails, through
bogs and up and down steep, rocky
slopes). We've been out galloping along
the dyke, on long rides, short rides,
group rides, etc. She's sometimes thinks
she sees something in the woods, but if
you give her a chance to have a look
around she's fine to continue.
I
grew up as a hunter/jumper rider and
decided to get a trail horse when I
returned to horses. Clover has the
temperament I was looking for - solid,
sweet-natured, easy to work with, and
not a bad bone in her body. I’ve done
some gymkhana with her, and she lunges,
bathes, ties, etc. with no issue. I ride
her both english and western. She was a
trotter in the past so she’s bulkier and
more robust than pacers, though I'm
often asked if she's a
thoroughbred.
She's a healthy
weight and up-to-date on teeth, worming,
vaccinations and feet. I keep her
barefoot and every farrier who's seen
her has commented that she has strong
feet. No shoes required. The only health
issue I've encountered with her is a
weak stifle (probably from racing), but
when the vet checked her out he said it
wasn't a long-term issue or concern for
lameness. I've just started learning
about natural horsemanship this year and
tried the Parelli games with her. She's
proven to be a faithful, quick learner!
Clover is available for free
lease to a good home. I am currently
doing a masters degree and it has gotten
too expensive for me to care for her
while I finish my studies, but I do not
want to sell at this time. If you are
interested in a lease arrangement (take
her to your property and cover your own
monthly expenses), please contact me and
we can chat further. I'm just putting my
feelers out there to see if there might
be a perfect situation waiting for us
both!
