Scooby is a great horse. He is great on
a trail ride. He stands for mounting,
stands for opening a gate, will drag
stuff along side that the rider is
holding, carry packs, cross bridges, go
through water, push barrels with his
front legs. He is barefoot and does
great for the farrier. He is a very easy
keeper. I can ride him easily after
having him in pasture for a couple of
months. He is for an experienced rider.
Although I am an intermediate and don't
have any problems, I feel it would be
best for him to have an experienced
owner. I put his temperment at a 4
because if you don't know what you are
doing he will go in his own direction at
his own pace. If you do know what you
are doing, he is probably a 2 not
flighty, well mannered, you can hop up
and down on him flapping your arms and
he stands still. I use Clinton Anderson
methods. He flexes, backs and yields his
hindquarters well. He desensitizes well.
I am selling him to a home who will keep
in contact because I wanted a WP show
horse and Scooby has too fast a trot. I
have taken him to GIHP when Newton
CountySaddle Club was showing. He did
well in the show atmosphere. He would
make a nice english show horse with
little work. And he even has alot of
potential for jumping small jumps. He
only needs direction from an experienced
rider. He jumps well during lunging the
three foot jumps I set up. He has had
exposure to goats, dogs, cattle, pigs,
chickens and nothing seems to bother
him. He just had his shots, coggins and
a trim.
