"Rooster" was a rescue I acquired about
2 years ago. He has made a lot of
progress but I can't affort to pay board
on horse that doesn't meet my needs. He
can walk/trot quietly under saddle,
canters on longe line but bucks too much
under saddle for me to attempt. I have
jumped trot fences up to 2ft with him
without difficulty. Rides in ring and on
trails around barn as long as he has
company. I want him to find a good home
so please be aware of the following:
-Cold backed to saddle but just
needs to be walked a few steps and is
fine.
-Not vet diagnosed but I feel
he likely has weak stifles. Has always
been sound at walk/trot but has
difficulty holding leads in rear at
canter. This has improved with regular
work but personally would not expect him
to hold up to intensive
riding/competition.
-Does best in
gelding only turnout. Has been
aggressive toward other horses if mares
turned out in same field.
He is
a pleasant horse on the ground/around
barn. Cross ties, stands for vet and
farrier and trailered fine when I picked
him up two years ago. Has front shoes.
Currently turned out with cattle and fat
and happy. I haven't ridden him in the
last 3mos but come out to see him and we
can tack him up and longe him and ride
him...he has energy when he hasn't been
ridden but calms down quickly...
I have over $5000 into this
horse and I am very fond of him. He
enjoys being turned out but likes being
stalled as well. I am disclosing all his
"issues" because I want him to find a
good forever home. No dealers etc.
Please be able to provide references.
Price negotiable if you can prove a good
home.
