Sarah is a 19 yr. old, dark bay mare
that has been in service many years as a
lesson and 4H horse. She is sound and
healthy, and a very easy keeper. She has
a young heart, plenty of energy, and she
moves very nicely with good collection
(to my eye). She has experience in
western, english, barrels, and jumping.
When she was sold to me, a year ago, she
knew her job well and did it without
question. Since then, she has figured
out that I don't know what I am doing,
so she has begun to see what she can get
away with when we work together. I
believe she and I would be fine if we
were working alongside someone with more
experience, but I am just fumbling
through on my own right now. I am
selling her because I need to go down to
just one horse this winter, and well,
frankly, she just isn't too attached to
me. My other horse is much more
dependent on my company than Sarah is.
Sarah does like to be the dominant
animal in the pasture, and she has an
independent personality. She does fine
with cows in the pasture with her, but
she will try to steal a newborn calf as
her own baby if she has the chance. I
would say that she is beginner safe if
that beginner has someone experienced to
work with, but I believe an intermediate
rider could get the most use out of her
and best utilize all the training that
she has had in the past. She is pretty
level-headed about most things, but is
not fond of plastic bags rustling around
her. You can email me to request photos.
