*** Congrats Jen***** Don't let Conrad
steal him :)
Talon is a 7 year
old black and white registered walking
horse. We sold Talon to a friend when he
was a weanling. Talon is the first baby
out of Stocks Super Trouble and Pride’s
Queen Mare. I know all of the babies out
of these two and they are all very
quiet, sensible and have a nice racking
type gait. Ed has recently passed so we
purchased Talon back from the family to
place him in another home.
We’ve
only had Talon for about 3 weeks. If you
ever ridden at Waterloo he was the black
and white horse on Clear lake Road.
Talon was a stallion up until last year;
he was gelded by Dr. Irving in August
2008.
I wouldn’t put Talon out
with mares yet, he was pastured with a
gelding when we picked him up(and he was
great). He still has some stud like
tendencies.
Since he’s been at
the house, we wormed him (Zimectrin
Gold), gave him his shots (6 in 1,
Potomac and West Nile) and have the vet
coming Monday (10-05-09) to do his teeth
and pull coggins. Feet scheduled for
next week also.
We took Talon
out on Saturday 9-25-09 and rode him
from my sister’s house to our house by
himself (approx 1 mile on dirt road).
This is the first time he has been
ridden in at least two years and he was
awesome. He didn’t offer to buck/rear/
or bolt, he went down the driveway away
from the horses without any fuss. He
passed cars and dogs without any fuss or
reaction, but didn’t like mailboxes-
when he shies he stops and looks doesn’t
twist or turn or try to run in the other
direction. He showed a nice rack in the
driveway.
We don’t have a lot
of time to ride so I’m pricing him low
and will consider all reasonable offers.
He’s going to make someone a really,
really nice gelding. In my opinion after
he gets his teeth done on Monday he’s
going to need some good consistent trail
miles and then I would rate him for a
beginner. He’s a little lazy under
saddle and not too much seems to bother
him. I’ve bathed him (2 days after
coming to our house), clipped him (he
tried to eat the clippers) and he jumps
right into the trailer and backs out.
He needs a home where he won’t
be stalled all the time. His previous
owner stalled him too much when he was a
baby and he weaves. He’s in a run out
now and loves it. If he was pastured
with another buddy he would do even
better.
The pictures posted here
were taken about 3 weeks ago when he
first arrived. Talon is one of my
favorites out of the Trouble/Queenie
combination. His markings and build are
awesome and he’s very personable. He has
a very fun loving and innocent
personality and is really looking for a
lifetime partner. He loves to play and
if you have your halters and leads
anywhere near where he can grab them
they will be in the pasture with him,
offering him (and you) hours of
entertainment.
