Dixie is a wonderful, stocky trail horse
with many miles under her cinch. She is
the type of horse who can take a lesser
experienced rider out and build their
confidence while still being a great
ride for the more seasoned rider. She's
been used for the past couple of years
as a lesson horse teaching basic
horsemanship and walk/trot lessons. She
is very easy to ride and both direct and
neck reins. She will lope out if you
really want her to, but prefers the
nice, easy-going ride. She vets, trims,
trailers, bathes, etc without incident.
She is a former founder case who has
been successfully rehabilitated, but
does need to put on her Easy Boots on
her front feet when she rides on rough
ground and should not be on grass.
She's extremely easy to keep and has
many years of good riding left in her.
She does wear a fly mask as she has pink
skin around her eyes that is bothered by
the sun, but has no trouble keeping it
on and appreciates it. Her eyes are
slow to adjust to changing light (ie,
going from the lighted barn out the the
pasture after dark) and she should be
given some consideration there, but it
does not cause her a problem. She is
being offered for placement because she
really prefers to work with the same
person-- changing from person to person
in a lesson program is not her favorite,
though she does it without complaint,
and she tries to bond with each person
individually. She would shine with her
own person as she puts a great deal of
trust in her person. She is part of
Herds of Hooves, a small rescue here in
GA, and is being offered for adoption.
There will be an adoption agreement that
keeps her from going to auction or being
"lost in the system." Please contact us
with questions, for pictures, or to meet
Dixie or click on our link to see our
other listings and meet our other horses
looking for placement.
