Rides Eng & Western, though is currently
ridden english. Jumps over any obstacle
(on trails, in the ring, in a field), up
to 2' 3". Trail access directly off of
the barn property, TJ is very good on
trails and rarely spooks. He is ridden
at very basic dressage levels (has done
Training Test 2) and does OK. TJ has
been taken to local 4H shows, 2-phases,
Hunter Paces, County 4H shows, State 4H
shows, and parades. His main vice is
that he is very difficult to catch,
otherwise he is a sweet horse. We are
working with him on catching, though it
will take a while. You will have the
option to go to some shows with him in
the summer, though keep in mind that he
has two other riders so he can't go to a
show with each one every weekend. TJ is
currently ridden by his 14 yr old owner
(intermediate/beginner), 12 yr old
leaser (beginner), and 9 yr old leaser
(beginner). He can be ridden by a
confident beginner. If you are not
confident, TJ will figure out that he
can get away with anything and take
advantage of that. He is at a 4H barn-
kids 5-18 ride there. Riders of all ages
and levels are welcome. If you and TJ
don't work out, you can still join
4H.
Price is $63 per month to us,
plus $7 for every lesson you take. You
get one day per week of free-ride (TJ is
"yours" for 24 hours- do what you want
with him). There is a barn requirement
to take two lessons per month, you must
pay the instructor for each lesson.
Lessons are generally on Saturdays, and
can be either group ($35 for 1 hr),
semi-private ($35 for 1 hr), or private
($35 for 1/2 hr).
