Lady Cassandra was sent for meat by her
last owner with bad teeth, wormy and
emaciated. She came to us with a full
udder so was a mother recently and most
likely had many babies over the years
with zero appreciation in the end.
On arrival, Lacy Cassandra was
salivating excessively when eating. She
received dental work and at that time
her age was determined to be in her
early 20's. Her teeth will need ongoing
maintenance (yearly floating) to keep
the hooks and sharp edges from
returning. This, combined with her age
and years of worm damage, has decreased
her ability to absorb nutrients from her
hay and feed.
L.C is the
loveliest mare and has been only kind to
us and the other horses here, including
the donkeys, who she watched over at all
times. We would like to see her in a
situation where she can once again watch
over little ones, as she seemed to like
that the best. She is great with the
big horses here also, but could get
bossed around easily, so it is a must
that she is with other non- aggressive
horses. She is easy to handle and great
with her feet and is just a dream to
have around.
A home with a
stall at night would be best so she can
be left with a bucket of hay cubes and
her feed to finish at her own leisure.
We have decided that L.C will
be adopted out as Companion only, but
could lead around a child on her back on
occasion. She is sound but knowing her
aprox. age we don't want her to have to
haul around the weight of an adult or
have to pull a cart, even if just for
pleasure. We want a home that will
want to do for her, not a home that
wants her to do for them. If that
sounds like your family, please contact
us.
