While Cherokee is quite the athlete, we
have ridden him extensively on short
trail rides or just playing in the
pasture. He handles very nice. This
horse is bred to run and I have no doubt
he would make a very nice barrel horse,
but neither my wife or I run barrels.
We have pastured this horse with
geldings as well as a mare with a colt
on her side. He gets along beautifully
with all. Cherokee loads, hauls nicely,
stands well for the farrier, bathes, is
easy to catch and has no vices or bad
habits. The one thing he does not like
is electric clippers. You can trim his
muzzle all day with scissors, but he
just doesn't like the clippers around
his face. Cherokee is young enough to
be taught pretty much any discipline, he
just needs the teacher.
