Blue Jay-Jana Blue Whippet being his
registered name-is a sweet, easygoing
boy with a kind soul. He's always
trying, and is eager to learn. Blue Jay
was bred and born in Pennsylvania,
bought and moved to New Jersey, then
finally came down to Florida, where I
acquired him. He has the absolute best
attitude, and always wants to please.
Blue Jay loves achieving things, and is
always a pleasure to be around. His
ground work is excellent, he can be
clipped, tied, loaded, bathed and
ferrier work is no trouble! Blue is easy
to get going, and would prefer a rider
with a steady hand and a calm
disposition. He can carry a four year
old or a forty year old, it really
wouldn't matter to him.
Although
Blue Jay was trained western, I bought
Blue to be a dressage horse, and he has
shown quite a bit of talent for it. BJ
is quite possibly the most patient and
understanding horse I have ever known,
and he puts up with all my faults and
gets his little mind a running to work
out whatever I present him with. And he
ALWAYS figures it out. I believe that
Blue Jay could easily revert back to his
Western ways if desired. I have been
training Blue english style for the past
year, and he is really understanding it
well. I've taken him over crossbars, and
he does just fine, so he could also be a
wonderful hunter/jumper prospect. I have
tried mild barrel racing (which means I
went in the dressage arena and did a ten
meter circle) and he has no trouble
making fast sharp turns. He quite
enjoyed his little makeshift course in
the paddock, and is very, very fast. BJ
is a little larger than the average
Quarter Horse, what with his lineage
having a lot of racing Quarter Horses in
it, like Smokey Duster Too.
Blue
Jay's lineage is very impressive, and
includes Joe Hancock, Jackie Bee, Poco
Ashwood, Blue Gold, Jiggs D, and other
such names. He is a foundation QH with a
wonderful temperament, and is ready to
do some competing!
I personally
think that Blue would thrive more in a
Western environment, but he could also
do quite well in English-it's truly all
up to you. Because of his dressage
training, his neck and core has become
flexible, which makes him a great
pole-bending prospect!
Blue will
stop whenever you ask, is learning to
sit back on his hindquarters and is not
hard to get into the canter. This horse
does not need a whip, nor does he need a
flash. Blue Jay is absolutely ready for
an amateur to an advanced
rider!
Negative Coggins, UTD on
shots-front shoes, but could possibly
come off.
We are moving to Chicago
and must sell Blue as we can't afford a
horse for now. Consequently we are
offering him for substantially less than
we paid.
Give us a call-come on out
and try him! There's no harm in going
for a ride! :)
