Cheyenne, or "Shyboy", as we call him
has taught an awful lot of people to
ride.
He has a real job, not just
a weekend warrior. We operate an
executive training retreat for business
executives on a ranch that is horse
powered. "Shyboy" was my lead horse for
years, taking groups of execs out on
night time trail rides in the rough
hills of our Tall Pony Ranch, outside
Kansas City.
He is a gentle,
patient and polished trail horse. If he
ever refuses a path or a peice of
ground, trust him. He knows something
isnt safe. He stands quietly to mount,
neck reins well and has a really soft
and gentle mouth. You can use a pinky to
turn his head around because of the
"give to the bit" training we
do.
He has amazing legs and feet.
Sure footed in bad ground and just about
the most comfortable fox trot you have
sat. His canter is triggered with a cue
and is low and gliding. He won't trot,
only fox trot. He is solid and is built
like a quarter horse. He'll back
straight with just a jiggle of the
reins. He is broke.
Past year, I
have felt totally secure enough to have
him pack rookie riders on 2-3 hour
trips. No buck, no kick, if he startles,
he'll startle down, not bolt sideways.
He is in the lower third of our herd in
dominance. Not aggressive and avoids
problems. Just a really well broke, laid
back horse with looks to kill.
If you
are a new rider with good basics, he'll
polish you. If you really know what you
are doing, he'll turn a bunch of heads.
