Lovely All Around
Pleasure/Trail/Dressage/ Family Horse
fully vetted on Sept 14, 2009, and was
clean on xrays in June,
2005.
This mature and
experienced gelding has an Incredible
Pedigree!!!!!!!
Motherline
couldn't be better:
STER-MODEL+Pref-STER+Pref-STER
Th
urston is intelligent and friendly, a
compact-built gelding with noble and
impressive looks, correct and strong,
correct conformation--a gorgeous
Friesian, a real head -turner. Lots of
mane with a long forelock heavy tail
and feathered legs. He has outstanding
ground manners, being very respectful
of his handler's and their personal
space. His compact conformation allows
him to bring his hind legs well under
himself. His movement is very swingy
and light.
Thurston is a lovely
forward moving Friesian, not a spooky
horse, he's not a lazy Friesian with no
forward, that requires whips and spurs.
He has quite a bit of experience in
harness. He drives as a single, in
pairs and as a 3-in-hand (two wheel
horses, one in front). He also competed
in marathon competitions in pair,
winning several!
Thurston's sire
is the sadly no longer living approved
stallion, Thomas. Thomas is also the
sire of our new show horse, Chopard (
see "Our Horses"). Thomas offspring are
rare in this country and cherished.
Thomas 327 is out of mare stam-line 50,
a very influential dam line. This
Stam-line 50 has produced 21 approved
stallions. At Thomas' Performance Test
in 1993, it was noted that he is a
well-balanced, slightly bold and
intelligent stallion. He was approved
on offspring in 1997. The judges stated
that the collection of inspected
offspring "had nice jet black color
with nice feathers, mane and tail. The
development was more than sufficient.
Some horses were very appealing with
attentive eyes and friendly ears. The
quality of the legs and hoofs was good.
The formation of the foreleg was
correct in general, and the foreleg was
sufficiently long, and had a nice
forward movement. The use of the hind
legs was sufficient." Thurston is no
exception, he is just like his
daddy!
Thurston is a Full
Papered FPS/FHANA Studbook Gelding
(Mother-line is Ster - Model+Pref -
Ster+Pref - Ster).

Thurston's
Dam-Sire is Peke 268. The Friesian
Stallion Book states about Peke: "Peke
268 (died 6/30/97) was very important
in the breeding of the Friesian Horse,
as the Age-line has always been
considered to have special value in
pushing back the inbreeding . . . Peke
is important for bringing new blood, if
we want to avoid the Tetman-blood, and
his offspring performs well in the
sport."
Dressage riders that
have shown Thurston have all really
loved him and were thrilled with how
quickly he learns---- doing all kinds
of things in a short period of time.
From lateral movements- to his really
nice canter, Thurston is a forgiving
horse that is super sweet, kind, and
giving, wanting to please his rider at
all times.
