Karl is a very friendly young horse that
I started riding this spring. His
inquisitive calm personality make him an
ideal natural born trail horse. He
loves to explore and go trail riding.
We've been to a gymkhana and he did
quite well after he caught on to the
fact that he had a job to do when we got
out into the arena. Karl has been
raised in a very natural environment so
he doesn't have any vises such as
cribbing, weaving or any of those habits
that stalled horses sometimes develop.
He stands well for the Ferrier and I can
trim him myself. He does not kick or
buck or rear and has never tried to hurt
anyone. He is easy to catch in the
pasture since he always approaches me
when I enter the pasture. He has been
exposed to many obstacles in his
training therefore is very trusting and
willing to try. He trailers well, ties
well and saddles and bridles without a
problem. He is current on vaccinations
(5-way) and West Nile and deforming.
He is traffic safe. I have ridden
him along the highway and trucks,
motorcycles, tractors and bicycles don't
bother him. Most of his riding has been
along roads and into town (Edgar). I
have also taken him trail riding in the
woods. When he sees a deer in the
distance his first reaction is to want
to run after the deer and introduce
himself (well, that's how he acts
anyway). Since Karl is a young horse I
would recommend that his new owner be
secure in their leadership role. As long
as he knows who's in charge, he does
great.
