Back up for sale is Tonka, my approx 15h
17 year old APHA bay overo gelding. I
panicked and could not sell him when I
listed him before, he is just too good
of a horse. Several factors is forcing
me to sell him this time, nothing to do
with him. I will be getting a pay
decrease in July (to prevent layoffs)
and I just had to convince myself that I
won’t have the time for 2 horses. He is
beautifully marked and has a very sweet
personality. He is a super easy keeper
and does not look his age. I bought
Tonka approx 8 months ago, when I saw
him, I had to have him, and my OCD
kicked in and here he is! When I bought
him, he hadn’t been ridden in
years(approx 2-4yrs), I mainly had
enough time to jump on him bareback and
ride around here. I have since ridden
him out on trails and he is such a good
trail horse, very confident, no spook,
takes the lead or follows. He takes the
lead and has a good walk, but about 4
hours of riding, he likes to just put
his head down and into the horse in
front of him and pod along (may change
with conditioning). He can be ridden
with/without a bit, I’ve ridden him with
a bosal, he is just the same. He was
born, raised and broke by the same owner
until he was 16, when I bought him. She
showed him at 4 and then he was her
trail/kids/spare horse. Her kids grew
up and she decided to downsize. He is
very loving, always the 1st to the
fence, licks your hand, sniffs and
sometimes licks your face. He doesn’t
seem scared of anything, he has several
times gone into the aisle of our barn
where he can’t turn around, has to back
out. He was barefoot until I bought him
and put shoes on him, he was great for
the farrier. He is UTD on everything,
done in May, shots and coggins, and a
farrier appointment May 23rd. His only
vice is worming, I just put it into his
feed. A good home is a must. Please
