Gilley was broke, owned and trail ridden
by a professional trainer. He is 3
years old but behaves and rides like a
much older horse and I know this is due
to his extensive experience. I bought
him from the trainer because I wanted a
safe, gentle, yet fun mount while
shopping for a reg. TWH for trail and
show. Gilley is a beautiful horse--he
has a unique color with a LONG mane and
tail.
I have ridden him
constantly since I got him and I trail
ride every weekend (and every weekday
that I can). He has been ridden
everywhere--from steep, rough, rocky
terrain to blacktop and gravel roads on
church rides. I have had him in the
THICK woods and he readily goes plowing
through thick trees and brush and
treacherous areas with no problem and is
very calm and sure-footed doing it.
Gilley does great whether he is
in a crowd or just alone. He is a very
gentle and kind horse. He neckreins and
will ride slow on a loose rein or he
loves to go if you want to. His gaits
are smooth at every speed. Even when
going very fast at a running walk, he
will stop immediately if asked or slow
back to a walk. Gilley has a wonderful
canter if you allow him to--the trainer
did not, but I love to canter and Gilley
did great. He would be an awesome Field
Trial horse. The trainer took his dogs
out on every ride, so Gilley is very
accustomed to riding with dogs.
The first time I rode him, 2
deer jumped out and began to cross the
dirt road in front of us--Gilley just
watched and never jumped or got excited.
He has never spooked at anything and I
have ridden him with traffic going by,
dogs running out, machinery running,
mailboxes and flags waving, etc. If he
is concerned about something, he will
pause, look at the object, and move
right on. Gilley goes in any depth of
water, easily crosses water, and goes
through mud perfectly. I even rode him
up in a cave at church camp. If you
tell him he can do it, he believes
you.
I cannot say enough good
things about him. Gilley parks out and
will stand to mount and dismount, he is
easy to saddle, groom, ties, etc. We
camp and he does great on a picket line
or in a stall. He is good with other
horses and never bothers other horses
while on the trail or in the pasture.
He jumps right in the trailer and backs
out easily. He does not have any bad
habits that I have found.
Gilley
is up to date on all shots with a neg.
coggins and in good health with good
hooves. He is not registered, but if
you want a GREAT trail mount that will
go anywhere or do anything you ask of
him, Gilley is the closest thing to
perfect that I have ever ridden. I just
got back from a week at church camp in
Raymondville, MO, and have many
references you can call if you wish to
have a conversation with people who have
seen him in action. All of my trail
buddies have praises and compliments for
Gilley's calm demeanor and willing
spirit.
Thank you for looking and
may God bless your trails!
