Rio is an excellent trail horse, has
lots of brio, and is willing to try what
you ask. He has the best gait of any
horse I've been on; he even has a very
smooth lope. I am selling because my
friends ride 15 mph and PPs aren't made
to go so fast!
On trail rides, he
will lead, stay in the middle, or hang
back at the rear. He will leave the
pack if I ask him to. When something
spooks him, he spooks in place and calms
quickly. He will willingly jump a
(small) log if we are going fast on a
trail. He walks back to the barn.
He will "join up." He bonds
with his owner and responds best to
"natural horsemanship."
He has
never bucked me, reared with me on him,
kicked, or bitten. He trailers well,
stands for the farrier, and is patient
with grooming. He is not an alpha horse
and needs a companion. Easy keeper.
He is a fast learner and leads well.
He walks with me, stops, backs, and
doesn't crowd. He comes to me in the
pasture.
He is not a beginner's
horse. He has lots of energy and wants
to go. He has been in the show ring and
won blue ribbons.
