"Maddox" is reluctantly being sold due
to financial hardship.
Maddox is
a six-year-old registered (APHA) Paint
with a mind stuck on competition.
His favorite thing to do is
jump, and he willingly and bravely jumps
even the "scariest" of jumps. Ridden to
3'3" by professionals, free longed over
3'10" (able to trot into 3'6"). Finds
his distances quite easily, doesn't
refuse or duck out (EVER), smart, and
sure-footed in any condition. Beautiful
bascule, textbook-tight knees, focused,
and accurate every time. Possibility to
be excellent and consistent 3'6"-3'9"
winner.
Hunter-ring potential,
is consistent over jumps but has speed
(does not rush; just has power and
speed). Equitation horse
potential.
Ridden up to Training
Level dressage. Excellent gaits and
willing. Flashy in color and flashy with
his gaits. Bends, leg-yields, half-halts
easily from leg, excellent and soft
transitions from and to any gait, very
sensitive to leg. Very distinct
lengthenings and shortenings. With
compatible rider, ready to go for First
Level.
Taken on small
cross-country (up to 2'6") course a few
times by professional; never a refusal
or hesitation. Needs much more
experience in this area, but he has
great potential to be a fully
well-rounded eventer.
Shown on
local circuit in October 2008 with great
placings in both the equitation and
hunter flat classes, and his 18"
verticals classes (hunter and
equitation). First show, in the ribbons
in each class. Easy to handle in show
atmosphere, handles the same at home and
away. Plenty of stamina for the day.
Next show is June 13-14 at
Middle River Ranch in Winterset (Iowa).
Three-phase show. If interested, I'd
love for you to come watch.
NEVER
a spooky horse: used to tractors, Bobcat
(equipment), dogs, cats, farm equipment,
cars, four-wheelers/ATVs, go-carts,
weed-eaters, lawn mowers, deer, etc.
Will follow me anywhere; the best ground
manners I've ever run across. Bathes,
catches easily, ties, loads easily,
longes on voice command, easy keeper on
hay-only diet. Currently lives in
paddock; not a fan of
stalls.
Sound, but 'toes-in' a
bit in the front. Never a lameness issue
with his feet, vet checked upon his sale
to me with great recommendation for all
jumping, riding, and competition. Not
x-ray'd but never a problem. Very
sure-footed. Willing to split x-ray bill
with potential buyer if necessary; will
use any buyer-provided vet for
soundness/health checks.
Has a
lot of energy! Needs intermediate or
experienced rider with plenty of miles
in the saddle. Doesn't buck or rear, no
vices...just tons of energy. Needs a
good warm-up from the ground, and then
will do *anything* you ask of him. NOT A
TRAIL HORSE, though enjoys a good canter
in the field. NOT A CHILDREN'S HORSE OR
BEGINNERS' HORSE! NOT SUITABLE FOR GREEN
RIDER.
Previous owners rode
Western; they had much difficulty in
trying to turn him into a trail-horse
only. Not a horse to wear spurs
on!
This is the horse that will
take you to your next level of
competition. He loves to work. Willing
to love and come when called in the
paddocks.
